Warhawks End Viking Season In Level 1 Playoff Game

Lucas Comstock [35] and Ryan Shelton [6] come off the field after Comstock recovered an Arrowhead fumble on the Arrowhead 27 yard line early in the fourth quarter. The Vikings then scored at the 10:17 mark of the fourth quarter to cut Arrowhead's lead to 28-12.



The Warhawks ball control offense kept the Viking offense off the field during much of the second half. Arrowhead is now 9-1. The Warhawks have played in the last three Division 1 State Championship games.



The following seniors played their last game for the Vikings: Joe Allen, Chad Anacker, Torrance Anderson, Zach Atkins, M Jay Bouska, Trevor Boyle, Justin Casey, Lucas Comstock, Matt Emerson, Marques Emerson, Sam Enerson, Ross Hanson, Jacob Henry, Justin Henry, Devon Hills, Dan Husen, Jacob Johnson, Tyler Kartman, Calvin Nauer, Cody Papcke, Aaron Polzin, Travis Rucinski, Nick Sharp, Ryan Shelton, Hayden Simonis, Tony Skillman, Elijah Smith, Craig Spangler, Alex Story, Adam Teal, Tyler Teubert, and Lucas Wimmer.



Cody Simonson [26, above and below] finds a seam on the opening kickoff. Simonson ran the ball back to the Arrowhead 42 yard line but a penalty negated the long run pushing the ball back to Parker's 40 yard line.



After the Lucas Comstock fumble recovery the Vikings drove the ball to the 1 yard line of Arrowhead where Adam Vesterfelt scored his second touchdown of the game on a one yard plunge. Vesterfelt also scored at the 9:47 mark of the second quarter. His run of 71 yards cut the Arrowhead lead to 7-6. The first half ended with the Warhawks ahead 14-6. Vesterfelt [#20, below], a 6' 0, 195 lb sophomore running back gained 206 yards on 28 carries.

The Parker offensive line of Calvin Nauer, Jacob Henry, Hayden Simonis, Jordan Hart, Cody Colson, Tyler Brossard, Lucas Wimmer, and Jacob Johnson along with fullbacks Cody Taber and Tyler Kartman helped Vesterfelt to 1,665 yards rushing for the 2009 season.

The Arrowhead offensive line helped the Warhawks control the line of scrimmage. Led by Brad Fisher [74, 6' 4, 277], Jake Lindenberg [75, 6' 7, 320], and Trevor Schell [76, 6' 2, 276] Arrowhead controled the clock in the second half.

Above and below: The Parker defense played tough throughout the game. Even as the clock approached 0:00 the Vikings kept their effort up and pursued to the ball with an aggressive attitude.
