Pride And Care: Jerseys and Pants

Player and Parent Responsibility For Equipment Upkeep

Rain and mud are nightmare scenarios for football equipment upkeep. The above jersey and pants belong to a player who participated in the Parker - Sun Prairie sophomore football game held on the practice fields at Sun Prairie High School on Friday, September 25, 2009. Parts of the field were a swamp and even the grassy parts were water logged. Mud on uniforms will occur. However the situation can be made worse if players slide in the mud after a game.

PARKER PLAYERS WILL NOT SLIDE IN THE MUD

Sliding in the mud shows disrespect to the opponent and ruins the playing field. In addition mud will ruin a uniform if it is not properly cared for. Formula for cleaning uniforms:

1. Never use hot water
2. Never use bleach
3. For mud caked uniforms lay the cloth in the driveway and use a high pressure hose to get rid of most of the dirt
4. Use a product like Spray And Wash or Shout on difficult grass stains
5. Use normal soap that you use in your washer and soak for 30 minutes [run wash cycle with lid up]
6. After a 30 minute soak close the lid and run the normal wash cycle
7. Repeat steps 4-6 if necessary

The pictures above and to the right are the 'AFTER' pictures when Steps 1-6 were followed.

Game uniforms should be cared for immediately after a game. Practice cloth should be laundered at least once a week.

Past mistakes that have left uniforms bleached, faded, or almost unusable will not be pictured in order to protect the guilty.
