Vikings Outlast Regents On Late Game Field Goal

Janesville Parker 17, Madison West 14 at Mansfield Stadium, Friday, September 11, 2009



Junior Creed Knutson [right] kicked a 29 yard field goal with 28 seconds left in the game to give Parker a 17-14 win over the Regents of Madison West. The game was evenly matched. West took an early 14-0 lead before Parker scored in the second quarter. The Vikings tied the game in the third quarter.

After the game Creed Knutson said that he dedicated his game winning field goal to his grandmother Carolyn Kelm (Stephan) Knutson who died on Monday, September 7.




The Parker defense under Coach Dick Schuh had a major challenge in trying to stop the potent West running game led by Leighton Settle [23]. M Jay Bouska [80], Nate Moench [45], and Chad Anacker [34] are pictured trying to contain Settle who ended the game with 127 yards rushing.


While Parker concentrated on stopping Leighton Settle the Regents worked on stopping senior Joe Allen [8]. Allen is pictured in second half action. In the movie clip Allen is brought down by a picture perfect tackle after a gain on the winning 4th quarter drive that resulted in a FG.
