'O' and 'D' Lines Key Win Vs. Cougars

Parker 31, Craig 13 at Monterey Stadium, Friday, October 8, 2010



The 2010 Craig-Parker game was the 44th meeting of the Janesville high school football teams. Parker led 14-13 at the half but then scored 17 unanswered second half points to up its conference record to 4-3. A large crowd attended the cross town game. Some of the Parker students are pictured above. The win gave the Vikings possession of the 'Monterey Rock' trophy [left] for one more year.

The offensive [above] and defensive [below] lines played strong games to help Parker record its win.

Above: In the fourth quarter Aaron Ackerman [2] scored on a 10 yard run. Ackerman appeared to be stopped on the 7 yard line [above left] but kept fighting for yardage and ended up scoring to extend Parker's lead to 30-13 with 3:55 left in the game. Ackerman is pictured [above right] as he ran to the sideline after scoring.

Above left: After Craig's Bryce Loveland scored on a 40 yard pass play from Cameron Wright at the 8:57 mark of the second quarter Erik Albeck [3] returned the kickoff to the 24 yard line. From there the Vikings scored on a 47 yayd run by Adam Vesterfelt after a 7 play drive. Cullin Simonson's extra point kick [below] made the score 14-7 with 3:20 left in the half. Above right: Aaron Ackerman returns 2nd half kickoff. The Cougars mounted a 10 play drive which finished with a 22 yard TD pass to Cy Badertscher from Cameron Wright with 9 seconds left in the half. The extra point kick hit the crossbar leaving the halftime score Parker 14, Craig 13.

Kyle Schroeder [11]. Creed Knutson [85], Jordan Hart [76], Jeff Henke [65], Tyler Brossard [57], Cody Colson [64], and Michael Rainiero [hidden] helped Parker gain 269 yards rushing.
No one play or player wins or loses a football game. A game is a series of plays that often swing momentum from one team to the other during the course of a game. Each play, whether it be the first or last is important to a games outcome. However some plays stand out in the memory of those who attend or play in a game.

Field position is a very important part of a game. Punter Hunter Marshall [left] had a 49 yard punt in the fourth quarter that was downed inside the Craig 1 yard line. Justin Shelton [above right] hustled downfield to make sure the ball stayed inbounds. The position is pictured on the right.
