Parker Players Encouraged To Participate In Other Sports

HOCKEY

Parker staff member John Mauermann is the coach of the Bluebirds. The Bluebirds consist of Craig and Parker students. The Bluebird Hocket Team is pictured at the Janesville Ice Arena in a game against the Lakers [Madison East and Madison La Follette] on Tuesday, December 14. The Bluebirds won 9-6.

Brad Money [#19] who plays for the Bluebirds is pictured in action against the Lakers. Money is a three sport atlete who also competed at the 2010 State Track And Field Meet in the 800m at La Crosse.

BASKETBALL
Seven football players are on the varsity basketball team. The Parker Vikings came from behind to win a thrilling basketball game against Craig on Thursday night in the Parker gym. Tanner Smith, Shawn Bohler, Decker Thompson, Connor Long, Kyle Schroeder, Erik Albeck, and Creed Knutson have helped their teammates get off to a good start to the 2010-2011 basketball season.

Craig had a strong 2nd and 3rd quarter and maintained leads of up to 15 pts. With time running out and Parker down by 1 Creed Knutson made a three-point basket to give the Vikings a 2 point lead with 1:50 left in the game. Knutson's basket is pictured going through the net [above left]. Knutson and the Parker crowd erupted as Parker took the lead. With Craig protecting a 1 point lead Erik Albeck [below center and right] stole a Craig pass and went the length of the floor for a layup. He was fouled and made both free throws to put Parker up by one with 24 seconds left in the game. That lead increased to the final score of 54-51 when Austin Lloyd made two freethrows.

Note - The Wrestling team will not have a home meet until January of 2011.
