194 Campers At Janesvile Parker PRIDE Football Camps

The annual Pride Football Camp at Parker was held from Monday to Thursday, July 19th to the 22nd. 123 incoming ninth through twelfth grade football players attended the camp. 19 coaches which included the varsity, sophomore and ninth grade staff as well as 9 former Viking players and coaches who served as volunteer coaches instructed players in fundamentals on offense and defense. Coaches are allowed five contact days with players in the off-season and the camp took up four of those days. The high school camp took place at night from 5:30 to 8:30. In addition 71 younger players attended the morning sessions of Coach Joe Dye's Janesville Pride Camp.

Battleball Competition

One of the popular games played at the camp is the fast moving highly competitive Battleball. Teams get four downs to score on a field that extends from the goal line to the 40 year line and goes sideline to sideline.

Anyone can carry or pass the ball and a down ends when a player is tagged by an opponent. Any type of pass can be thrown and there is no line of scrimmage.

The game provides non-stop action and is a great conditioner and allows even lineman to display their 'hidden' skills at running, passing or catching the football.
