Purple Knights And Vikings Match Up In Physical Game

Janesvile and Beloit have competed in Football since 1895 and the 2011 edition of the long time rivalry was a closely fought physical game that saw the Vikings use three second half TD's to pull away for the win.



The Beloit Memorial High School ROTC Color Guard [above] presented the flag in pregame ceremonies.

The Purple Knights and Vikings locked up in a first half defensive battle. However with 1 minute left in the half Erik Albeck [left and below left] fielded a punt at the Parker 25 yard line and raced down his sideline for a score.

Albeck is shown [below right] returning a first quarter punt for a 40 yard gain.
Above: Decker Thompson sets up for a fourth quarter throw. His pass went to Erik Albeck [left] who turned and raced 73 yards for a score at the 7:41 mark of the fourth quarter.

That play gave Parker a 28-0 lead and provided the final margin in a closely fought game.

Parker running back Adam Vesterfelt [20] and Beloit Memorial linebacker Austin Knoble [52, 5' 11, 231] engaged in a classic battle throughout the game. Vesterfelt prepares to cut off a block by Kevin Bell as Knoble sets up for a stop near the goal line. Vesterfelt is shown below scoring Parker's second TD on a 3 yard run at the 8:34 mark of the third quarter.
